Liturgy for April 17, 2025
CALL TO WORSHIP
Hear these words from the 116th Psalm:
I love the Lord
because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.
What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me? I will lift up the cup of salvation
and praise the Lord’s Name for saving me.
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call on the Name of the Lord.
OPENING PRAYER
To God, whose Son on this holy night gave us the gift of love in the broken bread and the chalice poured out:
We pray for all Christians who celebrate the Lord's Supper, that we may all be one;
for all people, whether prosperous or need, that we may share our bread;
for the members of our households with whom we sit at the same table every day, that we may share our joys, our sorrows, and—most of all—our time;
for those who come after us—our children and grandchildren—that we may leave them bread and not stones, peace and not war, love and not discord.
Almighty God, as we gather around the table, be with us, and bring us closer to you and to one another as together we pray for our daily bread, even as our Lord taught us to pray…
THE LORD'S PRAYER
COMMUNION PRAYER
Our Lenten journey is nearly over, Lord. And tonight we have gathered around your table to remember your last supper with your disciples. Like them, we are often unsure and sometimes afraid. And yet, we eat the bread and drink the cup, trusting that you will strengthen us in faith. Help us to remember your death on the cross, even as we feel your new life grow within us. Bind us together by your Spirit, for we offer this prayer in your holy Name. Amen.
