Even today, there are many whose faith in God is little more than obedience to a set of rules. And most of those rules are more negative than positive: Don't do this and Don't drink that, otherwise God won't love you.✙
But even in ancient times, there were prophets who could foresee a day when belief in the One God would be both more and less than this. Less law and more freedom, less threat and more promise. There would come a time, they said, when all creation would rejoice in its Maker.

May we join with the brothers and sisters who surround us, and even with the planet itself, in acknowledging the goodness and greatness of God. It is then that peace and joy will rule the earth.

For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
