To be prayed on March 20, 2022,
which is the Third Sunday in Lent
which is the Third Sunday in Lent
In this solemn hour of worship,
we gather in your sight, Eternal God.
We seek your face
that we may see your light.
We follow your light
that we might be guided along your path.
We stay on your path that we may know
that, at the end of our journey,
you will be our eternal home.
And yet, we know that the journey is our home,
for we are a pilgrim people:
You have given us a lodging in this world
but not an abiding city.*
Help us to endure the doubts and difficulties of the present time,
not as those who are seeking an escape,
but as those who love our neighbors,
and whose purpose is to lift others up
as we have been uplifted by your love.
As anxiety weighs upon our hearts,
as troubles seem to reign in our land,
and as wars rage beyond our borders,
we humbly ask for your guidance—
not just in what to do, not just in what to think,
but in how to pray.
In the silence of this sanctuary,
fill us with your Spirit,
calm our fears,
and guide us in the way we should go.
Hear us as we lift up to you
our prayers for one another and for our world…
[A silence is kept.]
All this we lay at your throne of grace,
in the Name of Jesus Christ,
your Son and our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
God forevermore. Amen.
we gather in your sight, Eternal God.
We seek your face
