There are no doubt people for whom this language is still important. Indeed, there are nearly endless examples of nations who go to war trusting in God for victory. And yet, in the life Christ, victory was not had without defeat. Perhaps, rather than taking God's Name into way, disciples of Christ would do better to trust that, win or lose, we belong to God.
