Jesus said he is the Light of the world. Paul tells us that the light is good, and that we save evil deeds until the night. It's no wonder, then, that many of us think of the night as being bad.✙
The Bible uses this metaphor because we cannot always see (or be seen) in the darkness. But darkness was created by God, and is not in and of itself evil. Just as a seed needs darkness to germinate so that it can bring forth fruit, so goodness can be brought about in the night. The work of God continues, day or night, so I have nothing to fear from the darkness.
