Trinity Sunday Prayer

Most blessèd triune God!
Though you dwell in glory,
you are close to all who are discouraged and oppressed.
In your love you have searched for us,
and made yourself known by Name as the God who stands by our side.
You called the universe into existence
and you surround us day by day with your faithfulness.
In Jesus Christ, your eternal Son, you entered our lives
and became One among many, yet unique in all the world
Through him you shared our life, took our suffering, our guilt,
and our death upon yourself, and overcame it
through your death on the cross and through your resurrection.
In your Holy Spirit you come incomprehensibly close to us
to dwell in us,to comfort and strengthen us.
So you are God in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We confess to you, O Eternal One,
that we are ungrateful for the lives we receive from you.
We do not walk the path of Christ.
We fail to listen for your word;
we try to close ourselves off from the workings of your Spirit.
Forgive us, we pray.
Come into our midst by the power of your Holy Breath,
for we are gathered here in your Name,
Grant us your peace;
in our diversity, may your church be one as you are One.
We pray this in your Name, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
