Hide-and-Seek

I will rejoice in doing good to them, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.
Jeremiah 32:41
Remember when you used to play hide-and-seek? The point, of course, was to find the perfect hiding place. But not too perfect, because your goal was not to hide forever; eventually you wanted to be found. And so if your hiding place was too good, eventually you'd start making noise until you were noticed and the seeker found you.
There are times in our life when we think we want to hide from God. But in reality, until we are found by God, we realize that we have missed the point completely. What a blessing, then, that our God is One who seeks until what is lost has been found. What's loveliest is that God does not punish the lost for having gotten lost (for nothing is truly lost to God), but—with all God's heart and soul—gives them a home as assuredly as if they'd never wandered off in the first place.

For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.
 Luke 19:10
After thinking about today's devotion, pray these hymn lyrics:
O Jesus, Savior of the lost,
my rock and hiding place,
by storms of sin and sorrow tossed,
I seek thy sheltering grace.
 Edward H. Bickersteth, Jr. (1849)
After your own thanksgivings & petitions, close with the Lord's Prayer.
